Charge finalizes training camp roster after NBA G-League draft

Charge

The Canton Charge announced their training camp roster on Saturday after completing the NBA G-League draft.  They started off the draft by selecting Cullen Russo at 19 and Shaquille Thomas at 46 before trading them to the Memphis Hustle in exchange for Maksym Pustozvonov (17th pick) and Jalen Jones (69th pick).  The Charge selected Gokul Natesan with their 97th pick.

The 30 year old Pustozvonov is out of the Ukraine.  He spent last season playing for U-Banca Transilvania Cluj in Romania where he averaged 8.4 points per game while shooting 40% from three point range.

UTA jones Jalen Jones – Guard

Jalen Jones is a 6’2″ guard out of UT-Arlington.  He averaged 12.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in his senior season which was cut short due to a hand injury during the Sun Belt Championship quarterfinals.

Gokul Natesan is a 6’4″ guard out of the Colorado School of Mines (NCAA Division II).  He was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a third team All-American in his senior season.  He averaged 18.5 points and 4.3 assists per game.

 

The Charge will have only three players returning from last year’s squad.  They are Cavaliers two-way player John Holland, forward Gerald Beverly and guard Mike Williams.  NBA veteran center Kendrick Perkins has also agreed to play for the Charge after spending training camp with the Cavaliers.

The Charge will have to cut the roster down to twelve of which two will be Cavaliers two-way players John Holland and London Perrantes.  They open the regular season on November 4th at Greensboro against the Swarm.
