Canton Charge G-League Showcase recap

The NBA G- league showcase took place January 10th thru January 13th at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The Charge dropped both of their games falling to 9-16 on the season. Here is a brief recap of those two contests.

Wednesday, January 10th

Charge fall to Iowa Wolves 100-97 after leading by 20 at the half.

Canton got off to a fast start in this one jumping out to a 61-41 lead at halftime. Slow third quarters have plagued the Charge all season and this game was no different as Iowa outscored Canton 28-13 in the third. The Charge made it close late but ended up dropping this one by three.

Jacorey Williams had a strong game with 22 points on 10-14 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds. Caleb Swanigan notched another double/double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Marcus Thornton chipped in 25 pts and London Perrantes finished with 11 points and eight assists. The Charge shot 43% (32% from three) and only 18-26 from the free throw line.

Amile Jefferson lead the Wolves attack with 29 points and 15 rebounds.

 

Friday,  January 12th

Charge wrap up the Showcase with an ugly 119-94 loss to the Suns

Another bad third quarter did in the Charge as the Suns outscored Canton 33-15 in the third. That pretty much was the game as they trailed by 26 heading into the fourth quarter. The Charge struggled from the field hitting on only 36% and 30% from three.

Kevin Olekaibe had a strong game off the bench with 23 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Jacorey Williams chipped in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The double/double machine Caleb Swanigan had 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Northern Arizona was lead by Archie Goodwin who had 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Mike Young chipped in 20 points and 11 rebounds off the Suns bench.

 

The Charge (9-16) return home to the Canton Civic Center on Wednesday with an 11:00 am tip against Raptors 905.
