After a successful road trip the Lake Erie Crushers (10-6) dropped a heart breaker to the Traverse City Beach Bums (8-8) by a score of 5-4.
The Crushers got off to a hot start scoring three runs in the first two innings against the Beach Bums Donald Murray. After a rough four innings to start the game the Beach Bums pitching cooled off the Crushers bats the rest of the game. Traverse City scored two runs in the top of the ninth off Crushers reliever Branden Nunn to pull away for the victory. Crushers outfielder Connor Simonetti extended his hitting streak to four straight games in the loss. Lake Erie coach Cameron Roth spoke about the heart breaking loss after the game.
“I thought we got a little complacent at the plate,” said Roth. “We scored runs early and gave up walks.”
Roth did go on to say he felt the team did play pretty good defense.
The Crushers continue their series with the Beach Bums Wednesday night at 6:35 pm.
